Garden Design Commission Service

This service is perfect for clients who with larger projects who require an extra level of discussion and development of ideas for their landscaping plans, and who need site visits, professional surveys and other services.

All designs, from concept sketches to completed masterplans are held on our secure systems, so we can show you your designs via an online meeting, and send them to you electronically. This service also includes large-format prints to use at the tendering stage and during the build stage.
n.b. Some or all of the below described meetings can still be held online – and this is sometimes preferable where busy lives would make in-person updates impractical, or where clients are shielding.

We will visit your garden or site to discuss your needs and to make an initial assessment of the space. During this visit, we will discuss options, and I’ll make some initial recommendations. After the visit, we will send you a quotation for the design and any further services we recommend.

Our straightforward Terms and Conditions outline exactly what you can expect from us. We also provide a payment schedule and ‘sign-off’ points so you can see exactly where you are at any stage.

At this point in the design process your garden design will be drawn up using the data from a site assessment and survey. This ensures that we have a thorough understanding of your garden – not only its dimensions, but also level changes, areas of damp and shade, and views you wish to retain – or not. This survey is carried out on site with precision equipment. If the space is particularly large or complex, we may recommend a specialist survey company in order to obtain the best possible data.

An important sign-off point – ensuring you are completely happy with the design before it is finalised. You’ll see a 3D render of your newly designed garden and be able to make any final changes. This service includes 2 revisions before sign-off to ensure the design is exactly right. A mood board is also included to help you to visualise the proposals. At this stage, samples of materials can be ordered, and plant lists discussed.

Your new garden is just starting its life – for it to reach its full potential, it’s important to have a maintenance plan for the next few years. These plans including pruning and training advice, when to lift and divide, what to expect over winter, and other information. If a gardener is to be appointed, the plan will be designed in consultation with them.

This includes:

  • A colour design render and Masterplan
  • A Landscaper’s (setting out) plan
  • Construction drawings
  • Detailed planting plans
  • A Maintenance plan for yourself or your gardener
  • Estimated costings and a materials list

If you require a ‘turn-key’ solution, we can

  • Obtain quotes and arrange contracts with landscapers
  • Monitor the build for you
  • Obtain and supply plants
  • Arrange aftercare and follow-up visits at regular intervals
